Registration for this event closes at 12noon on Wednesday 17 February 2010.

This event is facilitated by the AERC Alcohol Academy to support its objective of promoting excellence in local alcohol harm reduction. The Academy aims to do this by facilitating networking, training and support for local alcohol coordinators and strategic alcohol leads. For further information see www.alcoholacemy.net.

This free regional event will be split into two themes; the morning session will cover alcohol and Domestic Violence and the afternoon theme will explore responses to alcohol use amongst children and young people. You may attend either one or both sessions as relevant but please register via the Balance website at http://www.balancenortheast.co.uk/news-events/

Presentations and structured workshops will explore key issues for Domestic Violence and alcohol:

·        What progress has there been in national and local policy?

-          Policy developments for alcohol and violence agendas

-          Are substance misuse and Domestic Violence services integrating?

-          Local responses to Domestic Violence: exploring best-practice

·        Opportunities for the region: future responses within local frameworks

Who should attend?

The Alcohol Academy’s focus is to support strategic alcohol leads and commissioners who are tasked with reducing alcohol related harm strategically. However it is recognised that alcohol harm reduction is a complex and challenging area that requires strong partnerships and multi-agency approaches. This event is therefore open to both strategic alcohol leads and those with a direct interest or involvement in the themes.
